The Red Family: A Toddler Classroom for Growing Independence

The Red Family is our dedicated toddler classroom, specially designed to support early independence and social growth. With space for 10 children between 18 months and approximately 3 years old, this classroom nurtures exploration, confidence, and self-sufficiency.

Encouraging Independence

At this stage, toddlers are eager to do things for themselves. The Learning Center is thoughtfully arranged to support this independence, with child-sized cubbies, shelves, and chairs designed for their growing bodies. Our youngest learners are empowered to:

• Hang up their coats
• Put away nap items
• Choose and retrieve toys independently

Purposeful Learning Environment

The classroom features child-accessible shelving, so toddlers can make independent choices about toys and learning materials. Teachers engage the children in planned, developmentally appropriate activities at tables or on the carpet, while other toys and materials are freely available throughout the day, creating a balance between guided and independent exploration.

In the Red Family, we prioritize a supportive, hands-on environment where every child can feel confident and capable as they grow and learn.

Transition to Preschool

Toddlers in the Red Family transition to a Preschool Family when they are developmentally ready, a decision made collaboratively between parents and teachers. Placement in a preschool classroom is based on availability. The tuition rate adjusts from the Toddler Rate to the Preschool Rate at the beginning of the month your child turns 3.
